Experiments should be carried out following the laws and regulations of the Ethics Committee affiliated with the author's institution. All studies using human or animal subjects should include an explicit statement in the Material and Methods section identifying the review and ethics committee approval for each study, if applicable. The statement will be displayed in the final publication. An Informed Consent Form should be obtained for all clinical treatment where disclosure is required regarding medical information, that includes discussion on the risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Academic Publishing Pte. Ltd. adheres to the guidelines of Ethical Oversight in COPE, and the Editor-in-Chief will oversee all the editorial process to ensure the objectivity, fairness and integrity of the academic scientific works. If human subjects are vulnerable groups, please obtain their guardian's written informed consent according to the Human & Animal Research Policy. All the peronal information will be considred to be confidential data, and it will not be used for commercial purposes.

Appeals and complaints

Academic Publishing Pte. Ltd. adopts a zero-tolerance policy concerning any misconduct and will aggressively address allegations from authors and readers. Allegations can be related to dissatisfaction with editorial decisions or the publishing process, and complaints about publishing ethics. Appeals and complainants could direct all correspondence to editorial_office@acad-pub.com. Information about the article and the specific reason for the complaint or appeal needs to be provided in detail. The Editorial Office will deal with it according to the procedure set out by COPE. An investigation team will be formed upon receipt of a complaint or appeal, and make a final decision based on conclusive evidence. Complainants will be informed of the decision and there are 14 days for them to appeal against the decision, except for decisions on appeals against editorial decisions.

Testing social impact and self-attention predictions with live audiences and co-actors

This experiment examined the influences of number of co-actors and audience size on manual dexterity task performance and subjective reactions such as perceived effort and arousal. Predictions derived from social impact theory and the self-attention perspective’s other-total ratio indicated that both number of co-actors and audience size should influence responses. Undergraduate students (N = 128) responded as 1, 2, 4, or 8 group members who were observed in counterbalanced fashion by 1, 2, 4, or 8 audience members for four performance trials. The predictions of increased task performance with larger audience sizes and decreased performance as number of co-actors increased were not supported. Participants’ rated arousal was somewhat consistent with the predictions from the self-attention perspective and social impact theory. Self-reported effort was consistent with the predicted patterns, but not always significantly so. The influence of number of others is moderated by the objective-subjective nature of responses of real co-actors performing in front of live audiences.

Manifesting the academic psychological contract

The level of research undertaken on the academic psychological contract, and its influence on academics’ behaviour is limited. This paper seeks to consider the academic psychological contract, by reviewing its manifestation within the role and the influence on their undertaking of the role. Particularly important is academics’ interpretation of the role and what they consider important. Within this, the paper considers in-role and extra-role activities and what may be the grey areas in which time is spent. The research adopts the combined usage of phenomenology with interpretivist processes to investigate the insights of eighteen academics at nine UK University Business Schools. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data to consider the constructs’ manifestation. Key aspects of behaviour were identified as discretionary effort autonomy and managerialism, with links to academic citizenship.
