    Special Issue Information

    Dear colleagues,

Civil engineering structures are constantly subjected to dynamic forces and acoustic interactions, ranging from environmental loads to human-induced vibrations. Understanding and controlling sound and vibration in this context is critical for ensuring structural integrity, enhancing safety, and improving occupant comfort. This Special Issue focuses on cutting-edge research and innovative applications of sound and vibration principles in civil engineering, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches bridging physics, materials science, and engineering.

We invite contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:

    (1)Concrete Material Diagnostics:

Ultrasonic testing, impact-echo methods, and acoustic emission techniques for assessing concrete quality, cracks, and durability.

Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of aging infrastructure using vibration-based metrics.

    (2)Structural Health Monitoring (SHM):

Sensor technologies (e.g., piezoelectric, fiber-optic) for real-time vibration data acquisition.

Modal analysis, frequency response evaluation, and machine learning-driven damage detection.

    (3)Structural Vibration Dynamics:

Mitigation of vibrations induced by seismic activity, wind, or traffic loads.

Dynamic response analysis of bridges, high-rise buildings, and underground structures.

    (4)Noise Control and Acoustic Materials:

Design and performance evaluation of sound-insulating and sound-absorbing materials (e.g., metamaterials, porous composites).

Applications in building acoustics, transportation infrastructure, and urban noise reduction.

    (5)Computational and Experimental Modeling:

Finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for simulating vibration and acoustic behavior.

Laboratory and field experiments validating theoretical frameworks.

This Special Issue encourages submissions that explore the synergy between theoretical advancements and practical implementations, fostering innovations in sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure.
