Special Issue Information
Dear colleagues,
The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a sudden shift from face-to-face to online classes as the primary mode for teaching and learning in all educational institutions all over the world. As many teachers may not have been well-prepared for online teaching, they may find it challenging to operate in such a cyber classroom. Although offline classes have resumed recently under new approaches of tackling Covid-19, the use of technological advances in offline classes is still prevalent. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain a more nuanced understanding of the challenges language teachers have and how to best facilitate them to become efficient language instructors in the online classroom. In this regard, the importance of teacher professional development activities could be highlighted as they give teachers the opportunity to update their expertise and refine teaching skills.
This Special Issue will therefore focus on a range of issues relating to online language education and how teacher professional development can play its role in promoting teacher changes.
